Default Gmail vs Google apps for domains

Anyone have any idea why I can set up a gmail account and it works dandy, but when I try to set up a google apps for domains account it doesn't work? Looking at the logs I get an "invalid remote specification" error. I know the credentials are correct, because incorrect creds cause a different error.

Testing the connection in the account setup screen works fine, it's when I hit 'Done' that I get "errors were detected", and some boxes highlighted in red.

Anyone else using google apps as their email provider with Sugar?

We are. We use them for personal email accounts and haven't ran into any issues. I'm on 6.0.2 pro and also worked on 6.1.

Our system wide SMTP isn't google apps though.

    Now I'm really perplexed.

I installed the Faststack version of Sugar on my laptop, and I found that the regular gmail account set up just fine. However, both google apps accounts, one I started many years ago and one that I set up only a month ago, both had the same failure as before.

So it would seem we can rule out firewall issues & server issues, and issues with the age or 'version' of the google apps account.

But this doesn't rule out either Google apps or SugarCRM.

Is there anything else you can tell me about your apps account that might be helpful?

I got it - it was the password on the account. Either an @ or an ' caused it, but when I changed the password to something that didn't contain those two characters it worked.

Nice! Now that you mention it i do remember having a problem with one particular account. Ended up creating a new mailbox instead and problem went away... so there probably is some issue with certain chars in the password.
