Default Have SugarCRM 5.0 solved itīs EMAIL issues?

    Hello there!
Iīve tried SugarCRM a long time ago and I find it pretty much fantastic.
The only big issue that Iīve found was the poor way of handling incoming emails.
It wasnīt good and it wasnīt at all safe, so we couldnīt implement it because of that.

But as I think Sugar is terrific, Iīve been following its several releases, and now, after a while, I may ask the community if the email treatment (not the ticketing system, the plain and simple incoming/outgoing email) is completely safe and works ok.
Or at least if it is FAR better than it used to be.

Thanks in advance for your comments!

    Hello Rosamunda,

The email Client Has improved 1000% in my opinion. Here are what I think are the key points that make it better.

    1. All emails are not automatically imported into the database. This will stop the emails in SugarCRM from being cluttered with SPAM and mailing lists that have no relevance to the CRM unless you intentionally add it to the database. It also stops unessary attachments being stored in the cache directories.

    2. Emails are now searchable in Subject, and body. This is a big improvement.

    3. The ability to have multiple email addresses as a user.

    4. The ability to create folders in SugarCRM and organize imported emails.

    5. Drag and Drop for moving imported emails into folders.

The emails work with both POP3 and IMAP. The preferred method is IMAP as POP3 is slower at retrieval of messages for reading before import.

only the message headers are retrieved during email checks. the messages are downloaded at view time.

I hope this helps you out.
    Cheers,

    Max W. Blackmer, Jr.

If you use IMAP and you have a lot of emails in your mail server you should read this thread post #10 to limit the folders sugar wants to cache.

In verison 5 there is yet a great problem because sugar wants to cache all email headers from the server.
This can take a very very very ... long time - or stop without a result.

Perhaps a tip to the sugar development:
Folders on Exchange servers with notes, tasks, contacts etc. are no email-folders at all, really!

Cool Re: Have SugarCRM 5.0 solved itīs EMAIL issues?

I'm having a few issues in Sugar 5 I hope maybe someone can shed some light on...

I may answer my own question but let me know...

We're using Outlook in Exchange mode and Sugar in IMAP mode. We work in Outlook normally, but when we want to import a message we go into Sugar email, and sometimes receive an error saying it is already imported. I try to import the same message to a contact, and get the same error. I then synchronize the IMAP account, and then it works.

Similarly, if I try to reply to the message, it LOOKS like it sends but does not. it doesn't show up under Sent items in mail nor the project and in frustration we end up re-typing in Outlook.

For performance reasons, people prefer to use Outlook and only enter Sugar eMail when we need to, but is this causing our problems?

Another problem: Trying to get around IMAP sync, I deleted my IMAP account and setup a POP account, thinking POP would get around any of these issues... I still get a "This message is already imported" after working with a few emails.

A new development is that now any mail I create from within a project or contact are not being saved in the project or contact history... they're simply vaporizing, though they *are* sent to the recipient. Any ideas?

Not yet. It has a better interface, but it's full of bugs.

Is there any way to get the 4.5.x email system back in 5.0? The new AJAX system is a PITA.

    Thank you all guys!
Now I can say that it has improved, but it still doesnīt work as it should.

I donīt get why Sugar wonīt solve email issues, because itīs the main contact system with the future client! In a marketing way of thinking (Iīm not a marketer myself, but I can tell), the first this that the future client (prospect) notes is the reply they get when they try to contact you.
We use a form to contact to our users, but also a plain good old email address.
Users really like to contact us this way, and we cannīt afford to loose incoming email, nor be unsure if the ones that we send, are "really" being sended the way we want.

Again, many, many thanks for your replies, time, and willingness to help.

Iīll still be looking around Sugar until itīs get really, but weīre using Zimbra while waiting...
And nope, itīs not a *much* better option, because itīs really, really slow.

This has been a pop mail headache on WAMP for way too long and not one response to tell us how to delete emails in the SugarCRM email client. So what? Over a million users running sugarcrm on wamp and none of of can delete emails? I love sugarcrm - I hate that we can't delete emails on WAMP installs. Will this ever be addressed? IF YOU HAVE A SOLUTION THAT WILL ALLOW US TO DELETE EMAILS ON WAMP PLEASE CONTACT ME AT WWW.HELPMESELL.COM
