Default Having two sessions of Sugar running simultaneously

Is it possible to have two sessions of Sugar running simultaneously?

The reason is because if I make some configuration changes such as changing field layouts, or drop down menus I want to be able to test and check that users are happy with these changes etc. Therefore I want a development environment.

I am guessing that it is probably not possible to migrate the changes from a development environment to the production environment so I will have to duplicate the changes in the production environment after testing the required change in the development environment or session.

There may be some better solutions - interested to hear about these too, please.

    Thank you.

Sure you can - I have about 50 installations running on a server here at the moment. I think you mean multiple installations on a server - not multiple sessions - although you can do that too.

And if the versions of Sugar are the same - you can copy the MySQL database from one installation to the other - or backup from one and restore on the other - and all will be well. You have to be careful if you have uploaded files - they are in cache/upload.
