Question Help with Lead Conversion, been stuck on this one.

    Hello all, SugarCRM noob.

I have been trying to research the best way for our lead process for quite sometime and still find myself confused on the right way to do this. Any advice please?

    Details:
    - we get paid for REFERRING a service from 3 different providers to consumers nationwide.
    - most leads generated from website

    Process:
    - new lead comes in
    - we sell one service from one of the providers.
    - If qualified send clients the documentation and contracts
    - Then push for submission and payment to the specific provider.
    - Once the provider is paid, we get paid.
    - done.

    My confusion...

How do i handle the account and opportunity field?

When i convert, i make an opportunity for qualified leads. All the opportunities would be the same single service we refer.

On the account field would i use that as one of the service providers? So if i only have 3 different providers i refer business to i would only have 3 accounts? Or do i need to create and account for each lead that converts?

    confused????

It sounds like you have a high volume of leads that are logically transactions. I guess it depends on whether you contact those people again as to best route. I'm guessing it is job done and then you move on. I would probably do the following:

    • Enter leads as leads
    • On conversion create them as a contact against one of the three accounts. I'd have a dropdown for contact type to segregate between sales and people that work at the account
    • Don't bother with opportunity unless the sale take a period of time. If it is done in a call then forget it. It'll be data entry for data entry sake
    • Record a sale against a contact as a product (assumes you are using Pro). You may skip product creation as well with a panel on the contact with some custom fields. It depends on how often your product types change and how well defined it is

If it is contact centre based then I prefer to keep things in fewer modules so that clicks are reduced and it is easier to fill in. If time isn't an issue then you can segregate better across modules for reporting. You can also achieve both by using a combination of ustomising within a screen and then using a logic hook/workflow to populate other modules.

The only complication you could get with this approach is if you are passing leads to multiple organisations. If they end up belonging to all three then I'd maybe have a custom module for managing them and build everything into that.

    Hope that helps

There is a new way to become noticed and have long term repeat business. I don't know much about how you selling process but there are tons of things to learn to separate yourself from your competition and win sales person of the year...hand down. I know the way network marketers convert leads and it revolves around not being seen as a telemarketer. People want interaction, and follow up. They don't want your conversation to seem like just a numbers game. You want to create a comfortable feeling for both parties and build a relationship. If you can address the prospects true needs and provide a solution you can create a win win for everybody. It's a great feeling and you can attract referrals. The best kind of business. It doesn't matter if you're working for somebody else or becoming independent. Independent entrepreneurs are using these techniques in traditional businesses and it's kind of like "if you don't keep up with the competition you'll get left behind. Here's a Secrets To Selling link that gives you all the info you need. Hope this helps and It's what you were looking for. Good luck
