How to add a custom field to a list view?

I have added a category field to the notes module and I have been able to modify the list view to show it and allow me to sort by it, however when looking at it in the history subpanel it does not show up. Is there a way to add it to the history subpanel?

Also in the notes list view I would like to add a couple of search criteria 1) my category field and 2) account instead of contact.

Any help would be appreciated!
