how can you group leads or contacts?

I want to group leads/contacts. For example, I'll import a list of leads that might have an interest in Product XYZ. I want to group Contacts by those who have ALREADY expressed Service ABC my company offers.

How can I do that?

I use Sugar 5 Community Edition.

A simple approach is to create a custom product field of type dropdown on the leads screen. Then add that new dropdown to the search screen and build saved searches using that field.

Thanks - that's what I tried to do but I can't seem to add the new custom field to the search area. Any ideas how to do that? Thanks.

Did you use Studio to add the custom field? If so, in Studio select Contacts then the Layouts icon. Click the Search icon, then either Basic or Advanced search icons. This should open a view where you can drag your new custom field across from Hidden column to the default on the left.

Now click Save&Deploy.
