How to create reports outside of reporting module

Frequently our business manager asks for reports that I can't create using the Reports module.

Mostly because the module is not defined in the reports module - eg favorites, quotas etc.

I can easily knock them up in MySQL, but I don't have a way of providing them on demand from within Sugar, especially if he wants them parameter driven (usually by his direct reports usernames or date or industry).

What would be the best way of creating additional reports for him to run?

I've played with Drupal - should I use the sugarcrm interface to Drupal?

Creating dashlets manually for his custom needs is waay too slow.

You could try using ZuckerReports. It would allow you to create reports using SQL queries which are much more flexible than the Reports module approach.

In addition, you could create reports via Crystal Reports, SQL Reporting Services or other reporting tool.
