Default How do I map Custom Fields between multiple modules

My biggest pain with Sugar is the fact that I am unable to map a customer field that I created in Leads to Accounts. So basically when I convert a lead to an account, and had entered data into the custom fields in Leads, that data isn't brought over to the same named custom fields in the Accounts Module. How can I do this? Thisis the biggest reason why I am considering moving to ....... I love Sugar, with this exception. however, this is a HUGE pain for my reps because they have to do double data entry, Please let me know someone ASAP. Thanks.

    Hi, tmamayek

Sugar works wonderfully when you create into Leads an Accounts/Contacts/Opportunities custom fields with the same name.
If you want to map custom fields containing different names you have to hack the ConvertLead.php script.
There are no easy way to do that.

    Cheers.

    Hello tmamayek,

If you create a custom field via studio for both the Leads and the Accounts module, and you give this custom field the exact same name in both modules, then this field will automatically appear in the lead conversion screen and convert.

If you tried to create a new field in the leads module which already exists out of the box in the Accounts module (ex: website) or vice versa, then this will not work, because custom fields created via studio automatically have a '_c' added at the end. In this case, you would have to hard code the field into the system for the conversion to work.

So basically there is no way to map the system fields to another module which doesn't currently have that field or to a new custom module?

Question Re: How do I map Custom Fields between multiple modules

i had created some custom fields in contact module of sugar crm .when contact is saved at the same time i want to add lead with it with same name address etc. to avoid reenter same data in leads.
now contact and lead is both are created. but only lead satus is not saved it takes default value new.
how they can relate to one another.means contact -lead status is custom field and in lead it is default field.

what i can do for it.....
