How easy customize with Studio no programming

How easy is it to customize SugarCRM and support one's self with Studio and little or no programming.

E.G. compared to GoldMine or Maximizer?

When you add custom fields, using Studio, is it actually adding additional fields to the record layout in a specific table, or does SugarCRM come with X number of User Defined fields that you simply rename or something?

When you delete fields from the standard version does it actually delete them from the record structuer, or just hide them and not use them?

It actually adds records.

IE: if you add custom fields to the "accounts" module, Sugar creates an "accounts_cstm" table in the DB and updates all appropriate vardef.php files.

When you delete custom fields, they just get hidden, but you can delete them for good manually.

It is VERY easy to customize Sugar using Studio for simple stuff like layout changes and custom fields (text, dropdowns etc). You can even have Sugar audit custom fields to keep track of who changed what and when.

I just figured it out by using it, but Ken Brill's site is fantastic and a must read for customizing Sugar.
