Default How good is the new book on Sugarcrm.

    Hi,

I have had mixed results with packet publishing (www.packtpub.com) books. An Asterisk book I bought had great examples but lacked a good command reference like the Oriely book on asterisk. I am wondering if any one has received the new book (Implementing SugarCrm http://www.packtpub.com/sugarcrm/book) since it rather expensive $53.99 and what they thought of it. Specifically I would like to see a good book on extending SugarCRM by creating modules and using SOAP.

    Thanks

I recently bought and read the book. I find it well written and it serves best as an introduction to SugarCRM and to some CRM issues overall. But if you're looking information on module creation and SOAP, then "Implementing SugarCrm" is probably not for you.

The book is well written and informative, but it is definately an overview of Sugar meant for a newcomer to either CRM or to SugarCRM.

I was hoping for really down and dirty tips on how to tweak Sugar to be the ultimate CRM machine, including workflow, campaign tips, etc.

I had already gotten my Lead form on my website working before I got the book, but there was a snippet of code in the book's version that helped me send new lead notifications to me by email.
That (to me) was worth the price of the book.

I then tweaked this code so that more than just sending you an email with a CUST CODE (which is pretty much useless since it can't be searched by in Sugar) it now sends an email with a link so that when clicked it takes you straight to the new Leads record.

I'd like to be able to add the new leads name, company name, address, email, etc to the notification email but I can't figure out how to do that.
    Anyone have any tips?

I know it can be done because the notification email sent when a lead gets assigned to you has exactly all that information, but I couldn't find the code in any of the source files for this.
