How to make a custom field unique

Hello everyone,

I am new to SugarCRM.
Can anyone please guide me how to make a custom field unique?

I have searched ,but their is no facility,property to achieve this.

Your help would be very appreciable.

What exactly are you trying to do?

sounds like you want to make the custom field be a index key. If this is to provide a numbering system for like a customer number or invoice number etc.. search the help forum for "logic hook" and "paris"

You will find there how I got help to create a logic hook that will create a unique customer number. You should be able to do similarly.

Also, next time, use the help forum for a question like this. More people look there. I just happened to wander into this forum today.
