    Default How many wants this?

    Hello,

Today I came up with an idea of creating a plug-in which stops non admin users to edit a record only when a dropdown value of a module gets a specific value, or more than 1 conditions if you prefer.

How many thinks this can be a useful add-on to SugarCRM?

It is useful and needed and we have developed it already. But as part of a larger authorization and territory management package (including other features like multiple owners that has also been asked for many times). We have delivered this to customers already in a beta stage right now (it isw based on our legacy territory management). I will write up some documentation and share at a later point here.

We furthermore do not only trigger the edit but also the list, display and delete action by that. So you can flexibly control it. Attached a Screenshot of the management interface with the focus on wht we call an authorzation object that controls that. In the picked example an option to limit the activity to 'view' on all opportunities regardless of their territoy assignment when the sales stage equals lost.

The second Screenshot shows on ana example on contacts how this then look like for a user where e.g. some contacts are list only ... (like Vincent Wong in this example).
