Impact of not using tasks start date ?

Hi guys,

what would be the impact of not using the start date in tasks ?

The calendar use the due date.
The dashlet use the due date.

In Outlook, the start date for a task is always at none for my users.

Can I just remove the start date from edit and detail view ?

Or Is it better if I put a default value of "today" ?

Any impact ?

You can just remove it from your forms, but when you open the gantt chart they will be not sorted correctly.

IThe curent version I'm customizing is CE, so I don't have the Gantt chart.

But I have a question for the Gantt chart in the PRO version.
It's in the Project module right ? So it will be "project tasks" and not just "task" ?

I guess they are totally independant ?
