Suppose you are a call center operator or a sales representative and you are making a memo from every contact you have had with contact persons. How can you find valuable information which is stored in these memos? Okay, you will probably answer through the SugarCrm search engine. But does this search engine offer you appropriate search results? In most cases, no, because the user can not indicate the keywords of these memos. Therefore I belief that the introduction of folksonomies can resolve this problem.
->How does it work?
When you have written a memo, you have to give your own keywords or tags which give a good reflection about what the memo is about. Suppose you have written a memo about the malfunction of a switch in product abc. You choose “switch” and “product abc” to tag the memo. The system will automatically search for memos tagged with this combination and will show you all the other tags which are used with “switch” and “product abc” for example: “electric” “disturbance” “power”. As a user you can decide whether you are going to add one to your tags or not. Suppose that the malfunctioning of the switch causes problems with the power, you can say “Yes, I definitely have to add this one to my memo tags” The introduction of these tags makes it now possible for retrieving valuable information in memos…
Therefore I am currently working on a separate php application for the SugarCRM system based on the open source folksonomies plug-in Freetag (http://www.getluky.net/freetag/ ). When users have created a memo in the system they will have the option for adding their own tags or keywords to these memos. I want to make a module of this php application, but I have not a clue how to do this. Can anyone help me with this?
Do not hesitate to post comments on my enterprise folksonomies proposal…
