    Default Importing Data into Sugar

I am a new user of |Sugar and have recently tried to upload some data this was fairly straight forward however, when I tried to update this data using the Create and update selection the system created duplicate records. I expected to see only updates in this particular upload.

Have I done something incorrectly or is this a know bug. I would appreciate any advice that you can give me hear as this is something that I will need to do regularly and I don't thing the mass update feature give me the flexability I need.

Have you taken a look at the import documentation?

Have you included a column in your csv for the record id? If you try to update records, but do not have the record id in your csv, then the system will not update records, but create new ones.

Hi Thanks for that information, the accounts are now updating correctly.

There is only one field type now that is throwing errors and that is the multi select field. I can not see any reference to this in the documentation. The export sends the data out using ^,^ as the delimter, this is not going to work when CSV is used as the import and simly removing the , does not seem to work either. Is there a way to do this?

    Regards

    Justin

    Hey Justin,

when importing multiselect fields, you would need to use the ^,^ within your csv to separate the values for each record for your multiselect field. So if the value in a cell is a,b,c then you would need to make it a^,^b^,^c

    hi

I have tried to upload in the fomat that you described in your last posting. there still seems to be problems.

I am using the following format

    ^SMB Specialization^,^Express Unified Communications

I have seen a suggestion that I need to encase the whole string in "". Is this correct?

    Regards

    Justin

    Hi Justin,

it turns out there was a bug with importing multiselect fields into the system (although you do need to use the ^,^ string to separate your values on the spreadsheet).

What version of Sugar are you using? Based on these bugs, it looks like the issue is resolved in a later version:

Thanks for this. The second link display the exact error message that the import throws

I think I am on 5.2.0b, will double check tomorrow. I think an upgrade is in order. hopefully this will resolve.

    Hi

I have not updated the system to 5.2.0i. The upload is now completing successfully when I use Tab Delimited format. However the values in the Multiselect field do not update.

Is there something that I am missing here.

Thanks for the response, but I know all that. I was just wondering if there is a difference when buying the property.
