Integration with packages like Sage

Hi there, looking for a CRM solution to help square the ciricle of a number of point solutions within our company. Basically, we're looking for something that can integrate with our in-house database of customers and our Sage invoicing system plus our email client, so that rather than have to re-enter customer information 2 or 3 times manually, it can be done once. Excuse my lack of technical knowledge in these matter, so please keep any responses simply. Many thanks

Some thoughts -

in-house customer database - sugarcrm is open so you could build this integration but would have to merge your code and regression test each time you wanted to take the latest sugar changes. Would need to make either in house or sugar the primary point of data entry and then write database updates to sync changes between the systems. Alternatively, could you move all of this into sugar by adding custom fields to sugar contacts?

e-mail client - not so easy this one. There are ways to entegrate with email (e.g. inbound email - not for individuals yet, outlook add ins from sugar or jrabbit or email modules like zuckermail or popsicle). I am working on better email integration myself and no doubt sugar will improve in this area soon.

sage invoicing system - don't know how open this is - you need to find out if this has an api. The professional version of sugar has its own invoicing system I think but I havn't looked at it.
