    Default Invoicing / Accounts Receivable

    Hi,
Our company is looking to move to SugarCRM to manage all aspects of the information flow in our Web Design business. We're considering SugarCRM Professional, but we're concerned by the lack of Invoicing/Accounts Receivable features.

We bill on a fixed-cost (e.g. flat-rate project) basis, as well as hourly for incidental work, and would need everything neatly tied in to both Projects and Accounts.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on
    a) Third-party solutions that could handle the above workflow without having to be counter-intuitive, or
    b) Costs / resources involved in having a customised module developed?

This is somewhat "make-or-break", as we *really* want to avoid having to use an external system to track/generate invoices and payments received.

Any info or suggestions most welcome!

    Kind regards,
    David

Maybe salesforce.com has billing modules. If your biz is small I'd keep Sugar for managing your projects and use something simple like www.jaya123.com for your billing. Maybe Quicken or Quickbooks will work for you?

CRM and order-entry/inventory/reporting are really two different functions and I'm not sure you really WANT to combine them.

If you want to go "big time" take a look at SAP... or PeopleSoft... but you are looking at major dollars.

Or have a look at info@hand - which offers Sugar's CRM plus full Order Management - Quotes, Sales Orders, Invoices, Payments, Account Balances - and can sync with QuickBooks.

There's also a few projects in the forge that might get you part of the way there:

I'm a big fan of info@hand, but you can check out OpenSales too.

We have a very similar business so we added a custom time tracking module with QuickBooks export that is linked directly to Sugar projects. As we add projects to, they are available on the journaling page. The timesheet interface is highly optimized for a person to quickly account for their week all at once. It is a JavaScript application that makes it really easy to use. The beauty is that the data is all stored in the Sugar project history and it exports to QuickBooks.

One way or another this will be coming out soon. We're talking with a company that may want to make it available commercially. Otherwise we'll release to to the community if someone wants to run with it. As it stands now it is an internal app and doesn't have an installer or documentation. It works great though, but you know how the saying goes "On the 8th day, everything was documented"
