Question Jitterbit Open Source Integration for SugarCRM

My name is Ilan Sehayek and I am a founding member of the Jitterbit Open Source Integration team. Jitterbit is currently working with the SugarCRM team in providing Jitterbit on SugarExchange. While Jitterbit is an integration platform that can integrate data between databases, web services, XML, LDAP and flat files generically, we would like to launch on SugarExchange with Jitterpaks (specific integration solutions) that are commonly needed by the SugarCRM community.

Please post a response to this thread if you have a specific integration need or if you would like to create, distribute and maintain a SugarCRM related Jitterpak.

    Thanks.
    Ilan.

I am not familiar with Jitterbit but we have a commercial Field Service application called The Service Manager - TSM that we intend to integrate fully with Sugar CRM.

It is a complete end to end job management, scheduling, purchasing, stock control and even includes the kitchen sink for any Field service company such as HVAC, electrical contractors, IT or anyone who manages technicians to carry out jobs.

As a standalone application, it has its own tables and the challenge is how to synchronise it with Sugar to alow the sales reps to see and interract with the relevant information.

It is browser based but not based on MySQL (it uses Cache).

I would be interested to find out more if you feel it might be a fit.
    Cheers

David, to detemine if Jitterbit can be used, can you explain what types of interfaces into The Service Manager are available for other applications to integrate to it. You had mentioned that MySQL is not used by the application, however, are other types of databaes supported? Is there a file based database involved? Is there an API to tap into cache based services and if so what technology is that based on?

If you can provide any examples of other applications that integrate with The Service Manager and how they do it that would be very useful.

    Thanks.
    Ilan.

We are currently completely rewriting a Foxpro application yu run on the Cache database. It will fully support SQL, ODBC and has an extensie web services based API.

I have also attached a document outlining our current link between our foxpro based TSM and GoldMine.

You can also visit our web site at www.theservicemanager.com for further info.

Reading your post and looking at the TSM Link, I would assume that the integration is occuring at the database level integrating to FoxPro - if that is the case then Jitterbit could be useful. We have successfully tested Jitterbit with FoxPro using ODBC. What versions of FoxPro does TSM support? Can you point me to a download or system where we can access the TSM database?

    Thanks.

    We use VFP9

Here is a link to our TSM application: http://ftp.users.on.net/~proware/tsm66/tsm66dl.exe

I read on your web site that the current SugarCRM link only talks to MySQL. Can this be easily changed to other databases?"

    VFP9 integration would work fine.

We posted an example integration for SugarCRM with a MYSQL database as a user in our forum had requested such an example, however, Jitterbit can integrate SugarCRM to any other interface it supports. This incudes all supported ODBC databases (and we have tested VFP9). You can also integrate SugarCRM with other applications exposed as Web Services or applications that work through XML feeds or text files for that matter.

I'll download TSM and will test the connection to the database.

    Best.

I was able to install and could connect to TSM database. I used the following connection string in Jiterbit. Driver=Microsoft Visual FoxPro Driver;SourceType=DBF;SourceDB=C:\Program Files\TSM;UID=;PWD=; I was able to view the available objects both as source and targets.I believe that Jitterit can be used to integrate TSM with Sugar, however, I did not dive too deep as I need to go through TSM registration in order to populate the database. I am also not familiar with which database objects I would need to interface with.

There are two ways to proceed from here:

    1. I would encourage you to download and try Jitterbit. I highly recommend the preview version as there are VFP fixes in that version and it should be production ready within the next week or so. You can download it from http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...roup_id=155858.

    2. Jitterbit or one of our SI partners could assist you in creating the Jitterpak (pre-packaged integration) similar to TSM Goldmine Link.

    Thanks.
    Ilan.

    HI,

We have a SugarCRM customer who is also currently implementing Microsoft Dynamics AX (Axapta). We will have integration needs in the near futire and it would be great if there was a Jitterpak available!

Hi Malcom, can you tell me what type of interface Microsoft Dynamics has as I am not familiar with it. Will you be able to interface with in using Web Services, XML feeds or Database?

    Thanks.
    Ilan.
