Labeling contacts

Hi,

I was wondering if Sugar is able (possibly with extension modules) to to keep contacts organized by labels, like the ones we can assign to emails in gmail.

Labels (or Tags) differ from folders or categories in the fact that a contact should be able to be assigned several labels, whereas in organization by folders or simple categories, one contact would only fit in one category.

What I want is to be able, without changing the User Interface, to decide I will label a contact as "Premium Customer" and just label him that way (and then be able to search on it, etc).

You can customise contacts module adding a multiselect or dropdown field so that you can, from a contact's editview, give it a label (or more using multi-select).
Then, if you want to query these contacts using this new custom field, you should add said field to your search panel.
