    Default Looking for ACT! Replacement

Currently I use ACT! to manage my personal database of contacts. I'm not interested in group collaboration (with this data.) ACT! is so slow and buggy, I simply can not keep with it.

It seemed like I was looking for something simple:
    1. Integrates with Outlook
    2. Runs "offline" and/or on my own "server" (I absolutely refuse to put my data on someone else's server).
    3. Be configurable

I thought SugarCRM was the solution, but it appears not to be the case. The "community" edition fits #2 nicely, but I can not find a way to integrate with Outlook. All of the plugins linked to from SugarForge, do not work. Scalix fails to install correctly (the install crashes after clicking "finish".) Grim (something) does nothing when I click the toolbar button. Outlander won't sync, says there is a conflict even though there is no data in my SugarCRM database.

So coming full circle I noticed people are using SugarCRM Professional. It appears to support Outlook integration, but the trial also appears to on a remote server.

Am I just headed in the wrong direction?

You're going the wrong direction. SugarCRM is more for a team than for a one person. Try Business Management for Outlook (or something like that). It's free from Microsoft, and work great + less buggy compare to SugarCRM.
