Looking for interest in an NGO users group

Hi everyone,

Posting this sticky thread to see what interest there is in an NGO ( non governmental organization, such as a non-profit group or private school ) SugarCRM users group. The idea would be to organize meetings to help share strategies and examples of how to use the Sugar platform to power an NGO.

Please post below if you are interested in such a group, and let us know what kind of organization you are and how such a group could benefit your organization.

I'm trialing it for a Community Bus Group.

Functions are more than is needed but there will be geographical modules to be added with links to scheduling, routeplanning and route optimisation.

We looked at Zoho or bespoke but as we are a charity there are 2 key issues 1)cost and 2)skill set. The skill set of volunteer workers is such that you have to make the whole thing clear and as simple as possible. No one is interested in what goes on under the hood as long as it works and screen entry is clear.

This is where I think Sugar wins.

Now the main drawback. Having used Sugar since V4.0, version changes sometimes throw up bugs or functions that did work are suddenly missing or cause errors (changes by ISP's are equally to blame)

In all, would not want to move from Sugar as it has improved substantially since V4

I work at the headquarters for a chapter-based non-profit. We use Sugar Professional to store information about local chapters, their staff and for relationship tracking. We have done extensive customization - most of the "heavy lifting" has been done with outside consultants but I'm also learning the ins and outs of Sugar so I can maintain our instance of Sugar and make more customizations in the future.
