Mail Merge - Just a general discussion on how you use it

Hi,

Having started to really look at the Mail Merge in SugarCRM - I think it is not suitable to my requirments, I just want to see how others use it.

When we send documents to Client, we what to be able to see under the Client that such a document was printed/posted on this date, and so on for all other letter etc. In Sugar this doesn't happen - not sure if it will be possible to create custom code to handle this.

What about automating the merging of Letters, for example on the 10th of January a certain letter must be printed/posted to all Clients that meet a defined set of citriea.

How do other you use the Mail Merge and what Mail Merge requirments do you have. Are there other products that could be integrated with SugarCRM that can manage all of this?

We use Campaigns to record that a letter has been sent to a target list and ZuckerReports to generate the mail merge from the target list

And all of this is done within Open Office? Is this Zucker reports a free product, I have the professional version of SugarCRM.
