is it possible or planned to add marketing intelligence to SugarCRM.
With marketing intelligence I mean functionalities like product recommendations and customer lifetime value analysis. Both can be estimated when the customer's sales records are accessible.
This information could be used by sales people to prioritize their clients based upon their current lifetime value, and to offer them additional or better products based on recommendations for realizing cross- and up-selling potentials.
On websites you often see product recommendations based upon purchase behavior (like amazon.com). CLV calculations are usually done by data-mining companies. So why not make this a CRM functionality (given you have access to the sales data).
What is your opinion about this? Should functionality like this be placed inside a CRM?
