    Default meeting invitation in SugarCRM

    Hello,

By default the meeting invintation work:

The sugarCRM send meeting invitation by e-mail.
Email have a URL-link and if you click it - you approve (for example) this meeting in SugarCRM.

I want to change it like this:

SugarCRM send invitation by e-mail for contact person. This person received this invitation in MS Outlook. And then he approve this and it make meeting in his MS Outlook Calendar.

How i can send such format of e-mail invintation?

    WBR

There are other email clients too ... Thunderbird, Mac, Notes, Evolution.

Will the solution have to work with these too? ... you can't control what client software your contacts have installed

I think it's simple way to integrate the SugarCRM calendar and Oultook.
But looks like i'm alone face to face with this problem

I'm trying to do the same/a similar thing...

I want to send pre-written email templates which appear in outlook (and gmail if poss) so people can automatically add them to their calendar...

Outlook and gmail do this now natively, they add what looks like embedded vcalendar files into the email, so each client prog displays the calendar option natively...

I'm a bit stumped as to how to get Sugar to do this though...

I've been trying to do this too.

It appears that there is a patch that did exactly this - it added an ical file to each meeting invitation - so this would then be recognised by google calendar.

But it was written in 2005 and i doubt it still works with 6.1 http://www.sugarforge.org/projects/icalendar/ - includes notification emails with ical attachments....

I found this, but it wasn't quite what I wanted... I wanted to embedd the invites into email templates, not meeting invites, but its closer?

If you use Microsoft Windows (with Outlook) or Mac OSX (with iCal) or just a basic browser with a GMail account and you use the calendar functionality, you would have realized, that every time you get invited or invite someone to an event, you get a basic email, that adds the recipient to the calendar event.

I had to write an invitation tool that was cross compatible between different platforms and integrated with SugarCRM for a customer of InsightfulCRM (Australian SugarCRM Gold Partner) where I work.

I found this which does it for meeting invites. I wanted to embedd the invites into an email template. Its close, but not exaclty what I'm after...

    iCalendar / vCalendar meeting invitation
