    Default Merging separate SugarCRM databases

    G'day

I've been asked if this is possible by another person and can't seem to find anything other than merging email addresses & such.

Can anyone please tell me if the following example is possible?

I have one SugarCRM running for a guy in New York, he has his own database "ny_sugarcrm".
I have another guy running a SugarCRM in Ohio, he also has his own database "ohio_sugarcrm".

Is there a relatively painless way to merge their data if they wanted a "CompanyA_sugarcrm" to contain both their data?

This is taking into account they would need to have had separate coding methods for the accounts and contacts. Is this even something that is done much? I've pushed a bit for just starting off sharing but can this be done? Before I say no and later find out it can?

    Cheers........

Possible, yes, but it would require some manual work.

You'll first need to ensure that CompanyA_Sugar has a database structure that accommodates whichever custom fields were added at ny and ohio.

Equally important is the version of Sugar at each locally. Ideally, they should all be the same version and patch level. The same would apply to any modules that they may have installed or developed for their individual installation.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the layouts/look and feel, as that can be easily re-created via studio.

Once you've got a system at companyA that mirrors ny/ohio from a structure, version and modules standpoint, you should be able to use tools like SQLyog or phpMyAdmin to pump the data from database to another.

    G'day

Thanks Angel. I suspect they will have to take the usual lumps if they went and coded two Accounts or Part Numbers (custom module) the same right? Unless there's some neat trick past that..

    Cheers....
