migrate from Mac OS X to Linux

I'm running Sugar CRM on an old Mac OS X Server. It's too slow to use, so want to upgrade to a PC. Is a Linux installation faster that a Windows 2003 server ?
What is the fastest possible software installation combination on a Quad Core Intel PC ?

Also how do I migrate my MacOS X installation ?

IMHO a lean debian/centos linux installation will be significantly faster and more secure than Windows. *NIX is generically going to be quicker.

Any idea how to migrate from Mac OS X with MySQL to openSUSO with MySQL ?

I don't even know where to look for the database file on the Mac. Or what the username and password for MySQL on the Mac is ?
