Thumbs down Migrating from Accpac CRM to Sugar

    Hello All,
we are currently using Accpac CRM (yes I know ) and are looking at migrating over to Sugar CRM for a number of reasons. But we have already a fair amount of existing data in the MS-SQL(tm) database and I wanted to know if we can find a way to easily 'import/export' the data or if we have to create CSV's and them import them into sugar.

I would not like to go down the second (CSV) path as Accpac uses a billion tables and their structure is realy bad with no idea what certain types of records/fields actually do.

I have contacted them and they gave me a 'partial' db schema but i was able to find out a lot more with ERStudios that wasn't included in their diagrams.

    Any help would be appreciated,
    Regards,
    Lou

    Hi,

I don't know anything about accpac but I imported from goldmine to sugar. Rather than use the csv import, i did db to db. i had a good knowledge of goldmine (DBIV!!) and sugar's schema is very obvious.

i imported the goldmine tables in ms-sql (as I'm a dab-hand as tsql) and used tsql routines to format data into intermediate tables, creating guids where appropriate.

then used navicat (v. good) to import these tables via ODBC direct into the MySQL tables for sugar.

If you're good as sql and working out schema, then this could be a route for you.

The biggest issue we had was creating the guids for each sugar table. They can be anything unique, but I tried to keep it in the standard sugar format. (Used the sugar php utility for creating the guid called from tsql to create the destination dataset with the guid already in there).

    Good luck!
