Migrating to the SugarCRM Community Edition 6

Hello!

I'm doing the migration to SugarCRM Community Edition version 6. I backuped the old version using the tool available in the admin interface. Now I need to know how to restore this backup on the new version witch is installed on another computer.

Is the version of Sugar on the old server the same as the new server? If not, there are going to be various steps involved in the process.

I'm using SugarCRM 5. I have gotten a backup of this version using the tool available in the admin interface.

I installed SugarCRM 6 on a virtual machine for testing and need to restore the backup created earlier in this new environment.

What steps should I follow?

You should migrate 5.x to the new virtual machine (program files and database), then upgrade it to 6.0.

You can't just take a backup of Sugar and then restore it to a differing version and have it work. The program files and the database go hand-in-hand with each other as they both change with a change in version numbers.

Migration of SugarCRM5 to SugarCRM6 will it affect the customization done in the SugarCRM5, Please anyone let me know so that i can think of go ahead and migrate.

There exists the possibility that custom relationships may break. You should run the Repair Relationships option under Admin > Repair after every upgrade along the way (as you will likely need to perform more than 1 upgrade).

Also, the themes that were packaged with version 5 are not compatible with version 6. You will lose all of them and revert back to only having one option.
