Moving From Salesforce.com

We are considering moving from Salesforce.com. One of the features of sf.com that we really like is the ability to create custom tabs and to place custom fields on those tabs. For example, we've created custom "apps" to support things like employee equipment loaners, vacation time, time sheets, and more.

Does Sugar offer this capability in a WYSIWYG format, or will we be writing code to achieve these things?

There is no equivalent to the salesforce 'custom object' in SugarCRM. You will be writing code. Minor customizations may be accomplished by using the Studio tool in Admin.
