    Default MSSQL vs MySQL ?

Are there any significant limitations or benefits to choosing one flavor of SQL over the other? I am tasked with seeing if SugerCRM is a workable solution for our very small company that has been using Maximizer, which uses MSSQL Express 2005 on the back end. The amount of legacy data is not a terribly significant, so requiring a direct connection to the existing MSSQL database is not critical.

If given a choice, I'd pick MySQL for two reasons:

    1. The SugarCRM MySQL user community is larger than that of the MS-SQL one. As a result, the chances of it being tested are greater.

    2. Over the years I've come across several oddities specific to MS-SQL which lead me to further justify point 1 above.

I agree with Angel. I would pick MySQL over MSSQL. I find that running MySQL and Apache on Linux is the best way to run SugarCRM in a production environment.

If you choose MSSQL you will have to put your DB on Windows machine. MySQL works on Windows, Unix, Linux and some other OS's.
