    Default multi-business?

    I apologize if this is a noob question answered somewhere else (haven't seen it yet though)....

    I have a customer who wants to set up a franchise of their business. The parent company would retain access to all accounts/contacts. But the child companies would only be able to see their own accounts/contacts.

    We are looking at setting up using the community edition. Is this situation possible? How would we begin? (we are just starting the learning curve and are doing tons of research, of course...)

    Sounds like you'll want to use some sort of Teams-based security. You'd set the franchise rights to Team access (to see all child accounts/contacts/etc) and the child accounts to Owner access so that they can only see their own. The actual setup depends on more specific needs but that is the general idea.

    A related side note, make sure you plan this out carefully as a single install of Sugar isn't designed to be used by multiple organizations. There is a good chance you might run into a limitation somewhere that causes you grief.
