Default Multiple types of Leads and Accounts

    Hi,

We have 4 types of leads and 4 types of accounts. Currently we have data fields supporting this 4 types across the Leads and Account, and it's at a point where it would be really convenient to have the following:

    * Support for multiple types & accounts of leads with only the data shown for each type.
    * Separate Tab/Links for each lead or account type.

Here is the chain of the types to help open up for thoughts.

    * Client [END CLIENT]
    * Partner 1 [SERVICE PARTNER] that is a Service Provider to Client [END CLIENT]
    * Partner 2 [SOFTWARE PARTNER], may also be the SERVICE used Partner 1 [SERVICE PARTNER]
    * VENDOR [i.e. an INSURANCE COMPANY]

We pack the data for all of these into ONE lead or account type... and it's very poor thinking...

Any ideas to help on this ? Splitting out the 4 TYPES ?

Will also need support in the CRM-->Admin-->Studio side for support the types.

    Thanks !!!

I'm not sure this will help with the custom data fields that you did - and I may even need this for us in the near-near future but one way we sorted our our different relationships to each of our 3 company types was to use the Teams module.

    Assign 3 Teams

    Team A - only see data A
Team B- only sees data B
Team C - would be your Managers who would see/oversee and assign/re-assign if needed.

So if I had to approach this, I would look for something like:

If Team A then show only Team A data fields
If Team B then show only Team B data fields
If Team C then they see data A and B

    Something like that.

It's just theortical as I haven't gone that far yet with Sugar, but I've done something like this with another applications pulling from a Database. Maybe that will help you get an idea?...

    Good luck.

    WAIT! I'm thinking again

Add a custom module for only those items associated for that Team - then only show that module with that grouping. So if Team A is entering data for a lead, they will have your basic typical lead entry stuff, and then the subpanel below would be data only specific to the information as a Team A member? Hope that helps....

No, I am not looking for access control or restrictions.

Try using the CRM and imagine the following...

    * tab-links with ACCOUNTS-1, ACCOUNTS-2, ACCOUNTS-3, and ACCOUNTS-4

Where the custom data behind each account type... is different.

    And then rename
    ACCOUNTS-1 to CLIENTS
    ACCOUNTS-2 to PAYROLL COMPANIES
    ACCOUNTS-3 to INSURANCE COMPANIES
    ACCOUNTS-4 to SOLUTION PROVIDERS

Can you imagine where this could go ?

    Thanks !

    Hi mem94566

The links in the tab modules refers to modules itself.
In your scenario you have no 4 modules, but a single module containing a categorization.
    So my suggestion:
Instead of display the variants of Accounts into Tab Modules (inviable as I can understand your needs) you could display these variants in the menu links for Accounts.

What do you think about that?

    Andre' and Other SugarCRM Guru's.

I can go with either approach, Modules (Tabs), or Link from a Module.

    (1) Which approach is suited for the Drag-N-Drop layouts from the Admin-->Studio-> ETC... ?

    (2) Can I Copy a Module, and will Studio show this new module ? i.e. Accounst-1 Accounts-2 ?

    (3) If I make links inside of a module it's unclear how the Studio will work with this ?

    Helps Mr. Guru's !

    Thanks !
