Need asst. Changing Module Names,.. completely

Hello,

We have just recently set up sugar to test out and are trying to change the names of modules, not just rename the tabs - which we were able to accomplish by a recommendation within 'Studio'.. All the users on the Sugar Forums have been a HUGE help, so we thought it best to come back to the pros.. Here is an example of what we are trying to accomplish,... Ex: We would like to rename the ACCOUNTS module to LENDERS,. and have ALL LINKS reflect this change, all 'titles' of the Module show as LENDERS and not ACCOUNTS... Also, we'd like to change the database field name associated with fields within this module (ex: account_name to lender_name, etc.) how can we do this??

There was a post somewhere that gave fairly detailed instructions on how to do this. I can't seem to locate it now and I need it as well.

Can anyone point us in the right direction?

Hi HomeTeam,

My gut feeling says you should leave the database tables alone. I would think that would be a lot of effort for very little benefit (your users won't be seeing the table names, for instance, just the one or two Sugar administrators). I understand the value of changing the UI to fit your company's nomenclature, but I wouldn't change the underlying structure. Too many potential areas to break by doing that.

Changing field names in database table requires several changes in code. And for sure that kind of change will make your system very difficult to upgrade.

Using Studio and changing every instance of ACCOUNTS to LENDERS in language files /include/language/en_us.lang.php and /modules/accounts/language/en_us.lang.php might be enough.

And if not, it might be better idea to build new LENDERS module from scratch (using Olavo's new module builder perhaps) instead of changing extensively code in Accounts module.
