searching note one would wish even attached documents were searched
sure there is the searchdoc component but that component requires too much extra components that might not be available for everybody, especially living on a shared hosting
useful indexing to make searches fast and COMPLETE including archived emails and partial matches.. if i search "fx" it should find BOTH "fx industries" and "general fx" . basically how windows desktop search or google desktop work which was the system i used before sugar with my files and emails.

Would it be better to just add to this module?

Web Server: IIS 6, Win2k3
PHP: 5.2.5
MySQL: 5.0.27-community-nt
Sugar: 4.5.0j Open Source

Hi,
Using the Search Module wold be a great idea, there are though serveral issues here:
- I think the developeres are no longer active in the Sugar forum
- The module doesn'twork 100 % with the PRO/ENT versions.

How goes the project? I'm really looking forward to installing this in my 4.5.1 installation.
One of the big grumbles from my users in the switch from Salesforce to SugarCRM is that they can't just type in partial phone numbers to find a client. And if they copy and paste a space afterwards. Or don't enter the puctuaion correclty.
And not having date ranges so that searches can be limited to newer or older leads and opportunities.
Version C is in Beta testers hands right now, heres what it does so far
- no more '%' signs. text is searched for anywhere in the string
- Description and Resolution have been added to the fields that are searched both from the search tabs and the unified search
- phone number searching has been fixed. Now 314-968-9800 will match 314.968.9800 and (314)968-9800 and 3149689800 or whatever. partial matches work too
- Soundex searches are possible
- It does not search attachments yet, don't know if its going to
- date ranges are working
- notes, meetings and calls are added to unified search and the check boxes that control it
