New to Sugar - install 4.2 or 4.5 beta to laptop??

I am a non IT savvy business development exec looking to load Sugar on my laptop - this is a partial evaluation for a company with whom I consult, but primarily I need a fairly robust CRM/SFA. I am having an IT friend that is somewhat familar with Sugar do the installation. That said, should I load 4.2 or the 4.5 beta, which seems fairly mature.

Any suggestions appreciated.

4.2 is the latest official stable release.

4.5 is due out this month, and beta2 looks pretty good at this point.

There will not be an upgrade from 4.5 beta to 4.5 final, so you should expect to do a full install when it comes out.

So if you just want to do a demo I suspect either would work, but it might be nice to show off the 4.5 features.

If there's any chance this is going to be used for production and you may want to keep using it after the demo, then 4.2 would be the better choice.

By the way, 4.5 beta2 is also available as an online demo from the sugarcrm.com site. That might be even easier, depending on what you want to do.
