I'm looking around for a CRM solution to cover some fairly basic sales requirements. Time and time again I've come across sugar but never really spent anytime looking at, until now.
I work for a magazine publisher in the UK and need a solution for our sales teams (both staff and managers)
After a good look at the documentation and the community edition and a brief play on the Pro version I have a few questions and products, campaigns and ordering as I feel these are where my requirements are not catered for.
I see a "Campaign" as a sales period for a specific publication (e.g. January 2009 edition of magazine 1) where you can set a financial target and (with the pro version) assign a team to it. But we target individuals as well as teams with finical targets to achieve, and then I need to report on it in a number of ways.
Products. The basis seems to that a product is a single item with a value (like a TV or a Carrot). Our products fall into a number of publication groups, each group having it's own frequency of print (Magazine 1, Issue 2, date = January 2009) (there is also info extra information such as pagination but this could be held with in the campaign section?)
Orders. We need to sell an advert size/type or against a product and the value attached to that to be tracked by the campaign for reporting.
My question is, as I don't have a great deal of knowledge about the module creating and editing side of the product, how many miles away from where I want to be is the application, and who should i talk to/or read/ or do to move on?
