New task module for inter office messaging

I am tweaking the task/meeting module for inter office messaging. Though this is little "corny", but at least the users have some ability to send messages for inter office communication without sending the data to outside network.

Basically, the assigned user is changed to "To" field. The due date, start date and the misc items are all removed. The subject is made a textarea.

are there any OS module for messaging?
