I am new to Sugar, in fact CRM in general. I was just wondering if it was possible to use sugar as an autoresponder, if several emails could be saved and sent out to prospective clients over a preset period based on the date they signed up.

Looking through the documentation it appears that new campaign emails can only be sent out on specific dates.

Yes you can. That is one of the 'powers' that workflow provides in the Pro / Ent versions. Here is the kb article on how to set it up.
