Default Newbie here: add custom field

    Hi all,

I have purchased some leads which I would like to import into Sugar, just wondering how I can create a custom field so that I can map all of the info I have in my CSV file, most of the standard fields I have but I would now like to create additional fields such as industry, year the business started etc.

    Thanks for any help
    Lee

There is slightly difference in creating custom fields between the sugar 42 and sugar45.
    Anyway just see this thread.

I have managed to 'map' custom fields to the fields I have in my csv file, the file imports great now, however, I can't seem to get the custom fields show up when I am viewing a lead. Is there an extra step I need to take, if so, can anyone tell me what I need to do?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi reboot,

Now if you can map the custom fields from csv files import, simply go to Admin>Studio>Edit layout and select the custom fields from the SugarCRM custom fields and then drag and drop them where you want to see those custom fields. If you are not able to drag and drop them then first you have to add the rows for those custom fields.

    Hope this helps.

Cool Re: Newbie here: add custom field

    Moses,

I think you just answered my question ....same issue...THANKS!

Hey, I am pulling data in from a CSV into the leads tab --

Created custom lead fields for the mapping process, but after the import only
the Sugar standard fields are there. Do I need to alter the Lead Tab with the new
fields also? That seems like a lot of work (inputting the custom fields for the import) and
then the data not showing up. Where did I go wrong???????

Talking Re: Newbie here: add custom field

it seems that you have to pull up the fields that were created under the custom fields tab, then drag them onto the layout and they have to go into a spot with a button.

Have to change my thinking on how to approach sugar as an admin and not just an enduser...
