    Default Online Lead Capture and Self Service Portal

    Hi,

    we are currently looking at migrating to SugarCRm and I really like what I have seen so far, especially the great resposnes form the community and mostly well doucmented features. I have two remaining questions where I am desperatley looking for some clarification and answers:

    1. Online Lead Capture - We have to be able to have a form on our website so that interested users can enter their contact information, which should then automatically create a lead in SugarCRM. So here are the sub-questions re online lead capture:

    1.1 Does the Open Source edition of SugarCRM have that capability built in?
    1.2. If so is it identical with the online lead capture functionality of the porfessional/ enterprise edition and if not how do they differ?
    1.3. Where can I find doucmenattion on this matter on how to confirgure it?

    2. Self-Service Portal - We would like to offer customers the option to self administer their account, most importantly for support issiues. Question regarding this point are:

    2.1. I read that this feature is built into the Porfessional and Enterprise Edition. I can only see a check box under system setting to enable it but cannot see any further confirguration and set up options. How is it being set up?
    2.2. Is it possible to give specific users access to specific downloadable files (theri license files)? If so how?

    Any input is greatly appreciated!

    Online lead capture is the same for all editions of SugarCRM. The software install includes examples of how to use it. Look for the ExampleLeadCapture.php file in the examples directory off the root of your install. There is more info on it likely in the wiki, or in my book on SugarCRM.

    While the OS version of SugarCRM includes the portal integration checkbox, Sugar themelves are now only supporting SugarPortal, which is only available for Sugar Pro/Ent, and I gather even then at an extra cost. I also understand it only supports Cases as out of the box functionality. The framework of the portal is said to support broader functionality, which will be developed at some future date.

    For what its worth, we emailed the Sales team at Sugar several weeks ago inquiring about the SugarPortal for the Pro edition and never received a response.

    Thanks for the input I found the examples for th lead capture functionality and have one more question:

    Is it also possible to use that functionality to caputure a case instead of a lead or is this only supported when using the portal software?

    What is the question? If you post it here you may get a response from the community.

    Complaining never helps finding a solution by asking the right questions will always yeald better results than just complainning about the problem rather than finding answers to the problem.

    As said above I am wondering if the Lead Capture functionality o the open source edition can also be used to capture Cases online?
