    Default Open Source chargng structure

    Hi,

We have been implementing open source products in a commercial context for over three years. Our business has been built primarily on Mambo/Joomla CMS and we are proud to be members of the Joomla team.

Having used SugarCRM Open Source for over 18 months and seeing how we have benefitted from it we are now offering Sugar OS in a product portfolio. As a side issue we have applied for partner status with Sugar but I'm guessing there must be a huge back log of applications as we have yet to hear from Sugar...

Would anyone like to share their experiences of implementing Sugar Open Source. I'm particularily interested on how people have charged, per seat or per implementation etc.

I'm in the same situation as you - applied for partner status months ago, haven't heard anything yet. I haven't heard anything from my direct emails either.

What I am doing right now is implementing Sugar for two clients who are also close friends. They're being guinea pigs in this as I determine the costs of the implementation and then I'll have a good idea of what to charge.

    Hi,

That's really interesting as I have two guinea pigs who are friends with their own businesses. I've also taken it to the next stage and quoted to implement Sugar for a 'non friend' company. I've gone in quite cheap - I reckon - but as with the guinea pigs it will allow me to see the real costs but at least I make something on the gig.

As with other Open Source products people are a little sceptical but the potential is huge. Oracle are running a 'demysifying CRM' seminar later this month ina city not far from where I live. I'm thinking of going to that to see what sort of questions companies ask.

    Thanks for the response.
