    Default OpenOffice + Mail Merge

    Hi,

For the Sugar team - can ye explain why ye haven't created a Sugar extension for openoffice yet. To me the fact that Sugar is Open Source, it will be targeting Business that,

1: Like the idea of open source and its low cost
2: More then likely would also opp for other Open Source application ie. Open Office

I have downloaded the Sun + Sugar extension found here https://sugarcrm-ooo-integration.dev.java.net/, and that doesn't work - If anyone has it working could you please post how you used it.

I also used this extension http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ease_id=580429, and that seems to let me define templates and upload documents to Sugar From OpenOffice not perform Mail Merge.

If this second extension is for uploading documents to Sugar it seems pointless you can just go to the contact, account and attached any thing of related document an extension surely wasn't required.

Anyway, if any one has had any bit of luck with anything to mail merge to OpenOffice please advise here.

Can the Sugar team confirm if this is something that they will be doing in the future????

    Rgds
    Chris

Ditto on all of the above. Would really like to see this functionality...however it's availability would decrease the need for people to upgrade to Sugar Pro which includes the connectors to Office...so I can't see it being a priority for them...I'm more interested in success stories of people trying the Sun version. I installed it succesfully into OO but it doesn't do ANYTHING....the menu in writer appears but doesn't function in any way.

    Hi,

One of our customers has just upgraded the OO Plug-In from Sun to work with OO 3.0.1.

I have a version from the customer which I will try and test over the Easter Break.

If you want to test as well, drop me an email to malcolm @ nospan @ genius4u .com

I would like to thanks Malcom for the addon.

I have tried to use it and it does work, I was able to perform a mail merge but only using default fields in SugarCRM. Any custom fields that I created myself did nopt appear for me to select from the Define a Template as they do in the Office plugin..

Has anyone else had this issue?

    Thanks Malcom,

Thats excellent, to have this feature available will surely make SugarCRM the greatest option for all companies in these hard times considering the cost of MS Office licenses..

Plugin for Thunderbird, plugin for OOo almost complete, I can then go fully Open Source here..

Will you drop a post here or email me when it is ready I can test it again.

Just an update - the developers of the plugin at http://sugarcrm-ooo-integration.dev.java.net/ have released another version they have fixed a few bugs but I am not able to even get the setting button to work now.

Have any of you looked at the newer version?
