Opportunities Dashlet not showing all Opportunities

When looking closer at the Dashlets on our homepage of our SugarCRM setup I noticed that not all of the opportunities were showing up. I tried to edit the Dashlet and figure out why it wasn't working. I looked into the Advanced search section showing the "Type" field of the opportunity and noticed that it wasn't filled out in most cases. As we don't use this field I didn't think anything of it. But when I went back to the Dashlet I noticed that there wasn't an option in the type to select Opportunities that didn't have a type.

Has anyone run into this problem or come up with a work around?

I also noted on the quick create for an opportunity that the field type doesn't even display, so if it is so criticle why isn't it on the quick create screen.

Same problem here. Running Sugar Pro 4.5.1h.
Filling in the Type field works: the Opportunity then shows in the dashlet.
