Default Opting out of email campaigns

I am new to sugar and am attempting a email campaign.

I created a test campain and created TWO contacts (myself and one of the other employees in our firm) as members of the target list for this campaign. I was able to send the emails and I received the email and chose to OPT OUT - the issue is that not only was my contact information flagged as OPTED OUT but so was the other contact.

Attempting a send of the email campaing again resulted in the emails being suppresed.

I was able to delete the target list and recreated it and emails were no longer suppressed. The concern is that the Campain Status shows that the incorrecvt number of OPT OUTs which confuses the campaign result reporting.

    Any thoughts

    Hello,

what type of target list type did you set up (test, default etc)? If you create a target list of type=test, then you are able to send out a test email for the same campaign email numerous times. The results for the test target list can be cleared from the Campaign Statistics by clicking the 'Delete Test Entries' button.

If you created a target list where the type=default, and you tried to resend the exact same email marketing item to the exact same target list, then both of the emails will be suppressed. The system will automatically suppress an email from going to the same email address more than once. This is designed so that if you have more than one person in the campaign with the same email address, they do not receive multiple copies of the same email.

The target list was a type=default.

i can understand the not sending out the same message twice - but my concern in more with the fact that ONE of the recipients clicked the UNSUBSCRIBE link and it resulted in BOTH members of the target list to be flagged as OPTED OUT.

Both memebers have the same domain - is it possible that if one member of a domain OPTs OUT then all members of that domain as flagged as well?

What version of Sugar are you using?

Did you ever send out a previous email to that one user? Is it possible that they opted out in a previous campaign email? If so, then they would be auto suppressed for new campaigns.

If one person opts out, it should have no bearing on other people, regardless of domain.

we are running Version 5.2.0k (Build 5837)

This was the 1st email campaign done on this istance of Sugar.

Both eamils were viewed - one of the recipients clicked the link the other did not. Is there a log file that shows the OPT OUT flag being set from the email??

You can click into the user and go to the edit view to uncheck the opt out checkbox.

This is not normal behavior. I looked at the Sugar bugs but i don't see anything about this. I would make sure to uncheck to opted out checkbox, and make sure that that user's email address is no located in the system anywhere (as a lead, target, contact) and that it is not marked as opted out there. Then i would try to test again.
