Order Feed

We plan on feeding orders into SugarCRM Pro via XML. Order detail will include item information like item ID, description, qty, unit price, and extended price. These orders are being fed from a webstore. We will never use the quote module or need to build order from within Sugar. Given this, do I still need to create the Item Catalog, or will Sugar just accept the feed? I have modified the Quote module to accept orders and order details. I also want to be able to report against items (sku's) in Sugar.

My concern is if I do not create the Catalog, Sugar will not capture the item information.

Did you ever figure this out, I am in the same boat. Or have you found a way to mass import products?
