Exclamation Page cannot be Found - post installation

I am currently running Fedora FC4 fully updated. I'm running the following:

    Apache 2.0
    MySQL 4.1.16
    PHP 5.0.4

I am able to successfully install SugarCRM opensource without issue, register the product and login initially.
The problem is logging in afterwords. If I logout I cannot log back into the system with any account. I receive an error
    "page cannot be found".

I have repeated the installation 3 times in order to double check my steps and yet I get the same results. I have read to other posts regarding this issue but I do not see that anyone has ever responded to them. If anyone can give me insight to the issue or maybe I'm simply overlooking a step I would greatly appreciate it.

    Regards,
    BC

What version of SugarCRM are you installing? We just released SugarCRM 4.0.1 that fixes a variety of issues that have similar symptoms to what you are seeing.

The short answer is that it is likely your apache is crashing. In recent versions of PHP, behavior of some functions changed that can cause Apache to segfault if the function is used in ways such as we were using. We changed our code in a variety of places to accmmodate these changes in the PHP behavior.

We rant into that issue, and found that ISS was enabled on our Winbloze box, and it was keeping Apache from installing correctly. It sounds like the end result is that Apache is not installing and running correctly. Like the other guy said...

If you are running a winbloze server, make sure IIS is unistalled first. IIS is terrible compared to Apache anyway.

Under Linux, make sure you didn't already have appache installed prior to reinstalling it. This could cause it not to be installed or load correctly.

(as you can tell, I'm not a windows server fan, but the Spike stack on windows is great. up in minutes). We'll test the Linux install next...
