    Default parent_id column in Accounts

I understand the point of it, thanks to this post by andopes: http://www.sugarcrm.com/forums/showt...ight=parent_id

But I still have two questions:

    1. Is there any way to set up the parent/child relationship using the Sugar user interface? In other words, I don't see a field on the Accounts screen for parent account.

    2. Is this column used for anything in the OS version of Sugar? We're running 5.0.0b.

We'll probably populate it when we upload data, as we have a hierarchical account structure and this will probably help out with custom reporting. I'm guessing I'll want to create the parent account record first, export it to a CSV to get the record ID, then paste that into the parent_id column for the CSV file of child accounts. Does that sound about right?

    Thanks!

The field in Sugar is called Member of. Then from the the parent you look at the member organizations subpanel. And you're right, you import the parents, get the ID and populate the parent field. You can do this for subsequent imports. That's what I did and in some cases I went 3 deep on my memberships.

Now, what I really need is a more convenient way to report those relationships. Salesforce had a view hierarchy link that brought up another page showing the relationships.

In verison 4.5.1 there was a module OrgChart whichs shows the organisation structure in a grafilcal popup.
Unfortunately this module works not yet in version 5.0.0
You can find it in sugarforge http://www.sugarforge.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=1967
