I suppose that if someone skips a patch, he/she will get the fixes corresponding to it also in the next one, right? (i.e, if I install 4.2.0b but skip 4.2.0c, then by installing 4.2.0d the system is up-to-date).

Yes, the patches are usually cumulative!

can someone give certainty about this? I understand that sugar patchs work by file replacement and, as such, would be comulative for the files included in the patch. but what about if patch b replaced a file that pacth d doesn't need to upgrade? Then skipping b would leave a dangling file... I'm asking this because in the old patchs link I can't find 4.2 patchs between the d and a...
