Does anyone know of a simple way to dial telephone numbers from Sugar?
Sugar can prepend the string callto to a number (activating the support for Skype), so you can have an url/uri like callto:11111, then your browser or the operating system should be able to handle this type of url/uri and launch the appropriate software, callto in windows defaults to netmeeting.
We use this system to call out with our sip bpx, when we click on a number showed by the Sugar CRM our sip phone starts ringing and then, when we pick up the handset, the call to the called number starts.
We can call sip numbers and pstn (regular numbers) with a single click, very handy.
Our SugarSuite server is a Suse linux server, the clients are windows pc, the sip pbx is a Zultys MX250 with Zultys sip phones.

Assuming you only want to use Skype, I suppose that solution would be fine...
But is there a way to link callto:// so that it dials out using TAPI? NetMeeting itself is no good because it can't talk directly with a real phone system.
Hello All,
We've just installed SugarCRM and in the midst of setting it up.
There are quite a few threads asking the question: How to make SugarCRM to dial a regular attached modem?
Unfortunately, I could not find a definitive answer.
Is there a step by step procedure that describes this "how to?"
Thank you,
Alex.
I would be interested to know about the solution. But one design is: loosely coupled TAPI program from SugarCRM.
For instance in case of a meeting reminder, the TAPI can query the DB and call the contacts one at a time and play out an automated message that is a WAV file. When the call is completed, the DB field can be set to "called" and date. In some instances, the contact can press 1(yes) or 2(no) and record that in the DB.
There are some public open source TAPI solution available.
Hope that helps. I haven't started this yet. But I want to.
