Default Pro or CE > Pro

    First time installer.

A new install of Sugar CRM Pro. I can install the Community Edition, hopefully working out any obviously bugs. Then purchase the 5 user license Pro version, and install an upgrade.

By this process, I am potentially intruducing an opportunity for cruft?

Or should I install the Pro version onto a blank slate?

I am not sure I clearly understand your question, but I think you are asking whether it would be better to install CE, then upgrade it to Pro at a later time or install Pro separately when you decide to buy it.

The upgrade path would be the simplest as it would eliminate the need for you to move data around.

    Thank you for your reply.

Actually, the data will be coming from another installation of SugarCRM CE. So that will be a whole different export/import process.

I'm asking if the upgrade is seemless, or if in fact that if CE version is already in place that allowances for need to be made in the upgrade process.

Microsoft WordPad to Microsoft Word. Two word processors. Similar, and yet very different. More functionality, stuff left over. Poor analogy, I know.

You are right. That is a poor analogy.

The upgrade is rather seamless. You simply install a patch that updates CE to Pro and that's it. It takes about 10 minutes.
